IIT Roorkee conducted GATE Exam 2025 to offer admission in IITs, IISc, NITs, and other institutes for M.Tech / PhD programmes in various subjects. The GATE Exam 2025 was conducted on 1,2,15, and 16 February 2025. The Official GATE Result 2025 was declared on 19 March 2025. Also GATE Scorecard 2025 as well as GATE Cut Off 2025 were released on 23 March 2025. Candidates have to secure a minimum GATE mark which is called the Cut Off marks, to qualify GATE Exam. GATE Qualifying Marks depend on various factors like no. of candidates appearing in Exam, Exam level, no. of available seats, and many more. GATE Qualifying Marks change every year.  

GATE Qualifying marks help candidates to set their target and prepare for Exam in the right way. Candidates are advised to check the last three or four years’ GATE Qualifying marks before applying for the GATE Exam. Here we are providing detailed information regarding GATE Qualifying Marks of latest and last years. 

GATE Qualifying Marks 

IIT Roorkee released GATE Cut Off marks 2025 or GATE Qualifying marks 2025 on 23 March 2025. Candidates who have achieved that minimum mark are eligible to apply for further admission processes in GATE Participating institutes.  The qualifying marks are different for different subjects and categories, too. The qualifying marks depend on factors like total no. of applicants appearing in exam, difficulty level of Exam, last year’s trending GATE Cut Off , total available seats and more. 

Candidates preparing for GATE Exam 2026 must gather this information and set their target to secure chances to qualify for GATE Exam 2026.

Previous Year GATE Qualifying Marks

Previous year GATE Qualifying Marks help candidates to guess similar Cutoff marks for the upcoming years. The GATE Qualifying marks are quite similar to last year’s Qualifying marks. There is not much difference in the Qualifying Marks. So aspirants  of GATE Exam 2026 and also GATE Exam 2027 can follow this and start their preparation following these marks provided here. GATE Qualifying Marks Category wise 2025 was released by IIT Roorkee on 23 March 2025. The qualifying mark was released in three sections like General, OBC & EWS, and SC, ST, PwD. GATE Qualifying marks category wise 2025 are given below

Difference Between GATE Qualifying Marks And GATE Cutoff

GATE qualifying marks and GATE Cut Off are quite different and the meaning as well.  The number of candidates got confused in Qualifying marks and Cut off marks. For such candidates here some points are provided to solve the confusion. Follow given below information 

GATE Qualifying marks 

  • It is the minimum required mark to qualify the gate exam and is same for all candidates appearing in GATE Exam.
  • Determined by conducting Authority like IIT Roorkee for GATE Exam 2025
  • Not securing your chances to admissions or PSUs job also 

GATE Cut Off 

  • The mark required to take admission or job in PSUs 
  • Determined by COAP / CCMT and depends on the participating Institutes 
  • Securing your chances to take admission and jobs in PSUs in different sectors
  • It varies to institutes to institutes and no. of applicant for desired seats in specific institutes
