  • Mathematical Methods: Vector algebra, vector calculus, perfect and imperfect differentials, Taylor expansion, Stoke’s theorem, Green’s theorem, Calculus of single and multiple variables.
  • Oscillation Waves and Optics: Superposition of two or more simple harmonic oscillators, Damped and Forced Oscillators, Wave equation and resonance. Lissajous figures. Differential equation for simple harmonic oscillator and its general solution. Sound waves in the media. Travelling and standing waves in one dimension. General theory of image formation. Fermat’s principle. Thick and thin lens. Interference of light. Double refraction and optical radiation. 
  • Mechanics and General Properties of Matter: Polar and Cylindrical coordinate systems, Newton’s law of motion and application, uniformly rotating frame, Gravitational law and field, motion under a central force, Kepler’s law, variable mass system, conservation of energy, rotations and translations, rigid body motions, elastic and inelastic collisions, system of particles, parallel and perpendicular axis, conservation of linear and angular momentum,  Kinematics of moving fluids, equation of continuity, Principal moments and axis.
  • Electricity and Magnetism: Gauss’s Law, Coulomb’s Law, Electrostatic boundary conditions, electrical field and potential. Conductors, Capacitors, dielectric polarization, Ampere’s law, self and mutual inductance. Simple DC and AC circuits with R, L, C components, reflection and refraction at a dielectric interface.
  • Kinetic Theory, Thermodynamics: Kinetic theory of gas elements, velocity distribution and equipartition of energy, triatomic gases. Law of thermodynamics, means free path. Free law and its consequences. Second law and entropy. Carnot Cycle. Maxwell’s thermodynamics relations and simple applications. Ideas for ensembles. maxwell-Boltzmann.
  • Modern Physics: Lorentz transformations, postulates of special relativity, length contraction, time dilation. Mass energy equivalence. Relativistic velocity addition theorem, blackbody radiation. Compton effect, photoelectric effect, wave-particle duality, uncertainty principle, the superposition principle, calculation of expectations value, two and three-dimensional boxes, reflection and transmission at a step potential. Structure of atomic nucleus, mass and binding energy, Pauli exclusion principle, radioactivity and its applications.
  • Solid State Physics, Devices and Electronics: Bravais lattices and basis, Crystal Structures, Miller Indices, variation of resistivity with temperature, Zener Diode and its applications, BJT characteristics in CB and CC modes. OPMP and its applications. Binary number system, binary addition and subtraction. Truth tables and combination of gates.
